JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Pregnancy Support Social Worker/Social Service Worker

Reports to: Director of Finance and Social Services

Religious Requirement: A person who is an active, faithful member of a church who is willing to sign a statement of faith and whose life and conduct has been such as to receive a favorable recommendation from the eldership of a local congregation.

Education and Training: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.

Specific Responsibilities and Performance standards for Pregnancy Support:

  1. Personal Conduct and Appearance:
    1. Maintains regular office hours as assigned by the office manager.
    2. Maintains neat and appropriate dress and appearance
    3. Displays efficient work habits and encourages the same in other employees
    4. Maintains moral conduct both at and away from the office which reflects well on the agency
    5. Complies with personnel policies
      Performance Standard: Minimal absenteeism, efficient use of time, appearance and activity
      appropriately professional.

  2. General Office Duties:
    1. Receive and handles clients who are interested in the CFS Pregnancy Support program and direct to appropriate placement or community resources.
      Performance Standard: When needed clients are appropriately greeted, effective flow of phone contacts, assist clients in a professional manner.

  3. Pregnancy Support Worker:
    1. Connect with and support expectant families throughout the pregnancy and beyond through case management, crisis intervention, education, advocating, resources, and guidance into parenting or adoption
    2. Create and maintain connections to community resources to increase wrap-around services for clients
    3. Maintain company phone for occasional after-hours calls
    4. Provide community education through parenting classes, adoption presentations, and other events such as resource fairs
    5. Assist with maintenance of pregnancy support funding
    6. Maintain ethical practices according to the NASW code of ethics
      Performance Standard: Ethical treatment of clients; provide culturally appropriate work within competency to support pregnancy, parenting, and adoption; increase program effectiveness through community and grant work
