About Us
We are a family who loves spending time together and enjoying life. We place a high value on community, wonder through story and adventure, and delighting in God’s simple gifts. We live in some beautiful nature and some of our favorite regular outings are in the mountains. We love to travel, and one of the best things in the world is seeing places through our children’s eyes.
Just over a decade ago we met halfway up the steps of Grand Central Station in New York City. We lived about 4 hours apart at the time, and after a few months, it became increasingly clear to both of us that we were made to partner together in life. From the outside, we may seem very different. Asha is an exuberant extrovert who likes nothing better than making new friends and spending time with old ones. Gregory is as introverted as Asha is extroverted and loves long lingering mornings reading a good book in bed with coffee. What we realized quickly is that below these surface differences, we are actually very similar. The same foundation exists within us both. We love and prioritize our family and our faith; we are loyal; and we have a shared vision of the path that we want to walk in this world.
Gregory loves writing fiction and teaching, and he’s currently directing an institute and teaching at a university. He also loves to coach our children’s soccer teams and plays on his own club team. Asha has a passion for understanding cultural identity and has been involved in community development in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Before staying home with our children, she worked professionally as a mentor and coach to undergraduate students, and she loved those young women as if they were her little sisters. Asha also enjoys playing the flute on our church’s music team.
Our sons are a lot of fun, and very sweet! Aslan loves reading and building Legos, Braven loves anything motion. They both love sports and are enjoying learning the violin and cello. Asha loves to cook and bake, and our children enjoy helping, particularly licking spoons and sprinkling sugar. We love international travel, and our most recent trip to Scotland and England to visit dear friends has provided much fodder for imagining ourselves as knights facing dragons in deep lochs. And we have a little squire to accompany our missions, our golden retriever puppy named “Charlie”.
Our stories have pointed us to the beauty of adoption. Since we married we have dreamed that our family would consist of adopted and biological children who live, laugh, and love together. We are teaching our sons to be loving big brothers. We know they will be fiercely loyal and protective, and that this child will grow up with two brothers who will always be in his or her corner.
We love our family, but our family is not yet complete. We are a puzzle missing a piece. We long to welcome a precious child into our home and to be a part of seeing them bloom into the person God has made them to be.
Our Message To You
We are praying for you, asking God to give you wisdom and comfort, to speak to your heart, and to grant you peace as you consider this decision. We honor you, your journey, and the choice you will make. We would be overjoyed to get to know you and your child, and to love you both fiercely. We want you to know that should you choose us to raise your child, we will always honor you with our words and our actions. We will care for your precious child with our whole hearts and will love this baby with you. We dream of sharing celebrations with you, of marking joys and accomplishments with you, of feasting together. You are your child’s hero, and we will seek out every way to connect your hearts through the years. We will also respond to what you need, as you need it. Know that you have a whole lot of people who are for you, who are praying for you and celebrating God’s goodness, even through the challenges. You are loved. We can’t think of a greater blessing than to get to share life with you and your baby.
With great affection,
Asha and Gregory
