A Good News Story
Gina* reached out to CFS requesting services. She was 6 months pregnant as a result of rape and shared she was considering adoption for her baby girl. Not surprisingly, Gina had experienced a great deal of trauma and was seeking support and maternity counseling through CFS.
CFS workers supported her throughout her pregnancy and connected her to resources for safe housing and other needs. This support gave Gina the extra stability she needed to feel able to parent her daughter. CFS workers continued to assist Gina by providing educational services, supplies, and resources to ensure her and her baby’s needs were met.
This support gave Gina the extra stability she needed to feel able to parent her daughter.
Gina shared her experience in a Facebook group. As a result, CFS received an influx of calls and messages over the course of the next couple of weeks. In all, over 30 moms seeking support and resources contacted our agency! Our eyes were opened to the depth and breadth of need for pregnancy support in the Saint Louis region. CFS staff responded to each request, offering either direct support or referrals to other appropriate resources. Through Gina’s testimony, many more lives were touched and supported through CFS!
* Gina is not the real name of our grateful client, but her story is very real.
